Two Comanche locals were arrested following Comanche Police and Texas Rangers investigation into the the disappearance of Carl Woolsey, 72, who was reported missing by a family member in early September 2021. Investigation led to two individuals of interest, which were located at an address in DeLeon. Misty Rene Woolsey, 44, was arrested for murder (a first-degree felony), abuse of a corpse (a state jail felony, and tampering with evidence (a second-degree felony). Her son, Ryan Dallas Brown, 22, was arrested for abuse of a corpse (a state jail felony) and tampering with evidence (a second degree felony). Both were taken to Comanche County Jail.

DeLeon Free Press DeLeon ISD School Board
DeLeon ISD School Board members approved providing daycare for the children (0-3 years) of DISD Staff, as it was noted that DeLeon only had one day care facility that was full with a long waiting list. DeLeon ISD Superintendent Dana Marable suggested that the lay of day care could keep teachers from accepting jobs and possibly result in teachers leaving the district.

Jennifer Jones and Wes Lunsford recently purchased the old Hico Cotton Mill and plan to turn it into an events center. The pair estimate the project to cost $1.3 million and $200,000 in personal property. They expect to create an annual property of $144,000 to $197,000.
