Erath man arrested after reported abuse

Erath County Sheriff’s Office reported that Arran James Spoede, 46, of Stephenville was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 29 for Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography, a third Degree Felony.

Erath County Sheriff’s Investigators were notified on Sept. 13 of an outcry of sexual abuse. ECSO Investigator Rosye Holland reportedly learned that a 20year-old female had been sexually abused since the age of 12 by an adult male known to her.

On Sept. 16, Erath County Criminal Investigations Division (CID), along with Erath County District Attorney Office, U.S. Marshals Task Force and other federal agencies executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of N. Barker in Stephenville.

According to ECSO, numerous pieces of evidence were located and sent to federal labs for analysis. As a result, Erath County CID sought an arrest warrant for Spoede.

On Thursday, Spoede was arrested by U.S. Marshals at a motel in Conway, Arkansas.

As of Monday, Oct. 3, Spoede was in custody and awaiting extradition back to Texas. Spoede is facing potential charges in Arkansas as well.

ECSO reported this investigation is ongoing and more charges are anticipated at both the State and federal level.
