Holiday Classic

We are happy to announce that Holiday Classic is on schedule to take place again this year for Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Bell County Expo Center. To meet all the current Covid-19 requirements, there will be a few changes to the normal schedule. This year it will be a 1-day event. The general session for all species will begin at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at noon, and the Jackpot Show at 2:30 p.m.

The Holiday Classic is a free educational event held every year in November at the Bell County Expo in Belton, TX.

The event offers intensive training to 4-H and FFA livestock exhibitors. The training is specie specific for swine, goats, lambs, and cattle, and teaches the youth showmanship and animal husbandry skills. Training is facilitated by agents and experts from the livestock industry. Please call us for more information or go to: https://comanche.agrilife. org/comanche-4-h/ publications/ to find the Holiday Classic flyer and waiver.

Tri-County Cattle Gathering

Unfortunately, as much as I hate it, this year’s clinic will not be an in-person gathering, but instead a virtual gathering. We do have some excellent topics planned that include Dr. Jason Smith Texas A&M Beef Cattle Specialist, talking about cattle nutrition. Dr. Jason Johnson Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Economist will be discussing the cattle market outlook for the rest of this year and 2021. Dr. John Nielsen-Gammon, Texas State Climatologist, will be discussing the weather forecast and the potential effects of La Nina.

The clinic is set for Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Watch our facebook page or call the office to get the official zoom meeting link.

This program has some really good speakers covering topics that concern all our local livestock producers, I encourage you to mark this one on your calendar.
