Planetarium to show free Christmas Star show
The Tarleton State University Planetarium’s most popular holiday show, “The Mystery of the Christmas Star,” will run through Dec. 20. It investigates possible dates for the birth of Christ and examines recorded sightings of significant astronomical events at the time.
Planetarium visitors will see how signs in the sky could have been remarkable enough to cause the wise men to travel across the desert to Bethlehem, likely from the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula.
Show schedule: Monday, Dec. 9, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 20, 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The Planetarium is located in the Lamar Johanson Science Building on the Stephenville campus. Seating is limited to 86 guests per show, and admission is free. The box office will open one hour before each show. Preferred parking is available in lots P6, P15 or P34.

W.K. Gordon Museum sets Open House
The W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center Holiday Open House is set for 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at the museum in Thurber.
The come-and-go event will allow visitors to explore the museum and learn about Thurber while voting on their favorite Christmas tree decorated by local businesses displayed throughout the gallery.
Ballots are available in the museum, and voting will continue until the holiday closure in December. The winner will be announced on social media Jan. 1.
The W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center is located at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus.

Chamber working on Christmas festivities
The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is hard at work on Christmas Festivities set for Saturday, Dec. 7. They are working on getting vendors for a Christmas Market in Downtown Dublin. It is a rain or shine event, no refunds. Food vendors must have food permits.
The annual lighted Christmas Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 7. Call or text Derris to get signed up at 254-459-1514.
Christmas Spectacular planned by One Act Play Cast
Dublin's One Act Play cast will be hosting a Christmas Spectacular at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the old auditorium located at 419 N Camden Street. The night will be filled with singing, dancing and scenes. Coffee and dessert will be for sale to raise funds to upgrade the theatre department. The show is free, though donations will be accepted. Revitalize Dublin announces Gingerbread House contest
Revitalize Dublin has announced its second annual Gingerbread House decorating contest. Get your aprons on and get ready to bake! Drop off this year will be on or before Dec. 7 by 3 p.m. at the Grafton Market at 112 S. Grafton. Winners will be announced Dec.14 . All gingerbread houses will be on display and Revitalize Dublin invites everyone to check out the competition and vote for the People's Choice award! 1st Place Prize-50/50 Cash Prize, a Gingerbread Trophy and Bragging Rights

Fundraiser set to help locals after wreck
There will be a Chili Super at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Double N Cowboy Church benefitting Gage and Brittany Nail. The couple was in a motorcycle wreck Sunday, Nov. 24 with severe injuries but are recovering with a long road ahead of them.
“We ask that you join us in helping a family who is always willing to help others,” organizers said.
Donations will be accepted at the event and dinner is $10 with a chili bowl and fixins, a drink and dessert.
