DeLeon Historical Museum exhibiting aprons
Although they are not seen much any more, an apron was a versatile, much needed item years ago. Its main purpose was to protect the dress beneath it because women only had a few. But it also carried in eggs or vegetables, covered arms that were cold, wiped perspiration in a hot kitchen, dusted furniture when unexpected company arrived, or wiped the eyes of a crying child. The DeLeon Area Historical Museum is exhibiting aprons and bonnets through March 16. There are old, newer, dressy, utilitarian, job related, decorative, masculine, and many different types of aprons displayed along with bonnets which were another essential item worn by women and children.

The Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
