A BBQ benefit and auction is set Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Broken Bronc Cowboy Church to benefit the Auvenshine family, who is starting over after a house fire resulted in a total loss of home and possessions.

Jamie Auvenshine is a graduate of Sidney High Schoolr and Angie Auvenshine is a graduate of Dublin Paradigm who are now living in Midland with their three daughters, Jessi, Lilli and Maggi. Both Jamie and Angie work at Troy Vines, where they are the shop foreman and dispatch respectively for the business.

The Auvenshines may no longer live in the area, but they are as close as family to the community and Broken Bronc Cowboy Church, which is helping organize the event.

“They are your everyday wholesome, Godly family,” said Brandi Steelman of the family whose lives were disrupted following the accident, adding that they routinely come back to the area.

Steelman said that the family had nothing left following the fire and are having to “completely start over,” but she said that they have not let the hardship discourage them

“Angie was telling the kids after it happened that they may not understand why this is happening but it’s God’s plan,” Steelman said.

Angie mother, Cindy Seale, also reported that the family gives “when they have nothing to give.”

“A few years ago when the hurricanes hit the coast so hard, they dropped everything, loaded up without question, and went down to provide aid,” Seale said. “They had zero experience in doing such things, but felt that God led them to do this, so they loaded up and went.”

The Auvenshines’ brothers and sisters in faith are putting up their own plan to lift the family up and help them start down their new path.

The Church and friends will be serving brisket and pulled pork sandwiches by donation and a variety of items are being gathered for a live auction.

The Broken Bronc Worship Team will also be providing live music during the fundraiser.

Broken Bronc Cowboy Church is located at 1900 FM 588 in Comanche County. For more information about the event or donating to helping the family, call Steelman at 979-1290 or Pastor Bill Williams at 979-9784.
