The Dublin Woman’s ThursdayClubmetThursday, April 11 at the Dublin Historical Museum with Judith Lemmons as the host.

President Fran Jurney called the meeting to order and led the Club Collect. To relieve Judith of so many duties, since she was presenting the program, our recording secretary-elect, Janet Pino, took over roll call and the recording of minutes.

There were 14 members present and five absent. The minutes were read and approved. Erynne Sprouse announced the program of B.E Robbins and John Kiker being early ginners and the history surrounding that era.

The program was special to our presenter because it was the story of her own family and their role in shaping the Harbin community. The land was granted for service rendered in the Texas Revolution.

Judith had brought along pictures and artifacts to tell the story of these early settlers in the Harbin community. There had been an Indian village on their property and interesting pieces found through the years as this soil was plowed.

Included in the special “show and tell” were a tatted lace collar made by Judith’s grandmother, which she was wearing, and a quilt created by her grandmother that began when her grandmother was only a girl. Members were awed by the stellar condition and beauty of these pieces.

The Scholarship Committee had met prior to the meeting and a recipient for the $500 prize was chosen. Leta Sage spoke about how highly qualified the young woman who received the scholarship was.

DJ Klutts chairperson of the Program Committee presented three topics of study for the next study cycle. Each of those topics was presented to the group and a vote was taken. The Eco Regions of Texas will be the course of programs in 2024 and 2025.

Engineer Edilisa Jimenez collected the recording sheets she had put out to members to simplify the logging of volunteer hours, club hours, money spent on club matters and donations. This will be a much more efficient way to track the work of this group.

The 126th Anniversary Meeting was cancelled on March 25 due to weather and rescheduled for April 25. Members met at the First Methodist Church to carpool and travel to the Middle Trinity Water District site where a project has been in progress for the last two years.

In 2022, the group toured this spot just as it was beginning. Stephanie Keith introduced the project at that time, and she addressed the group and conduct a guided tour of the work done. Following this time, the Thursday Club ladies will have lunch together and continue in the anniversary celebration. See page 5A for photos of the meeting.

The April 11 meeting adjourned at 6 p.m.
