“Earth without art is just ‘eh.’”- Demetri Martin

This quote can be found inside Dublin’s Wicked Clover and it clearly reflects the passion of owners KJ and Danielle Meador.

With KJ offering tattoos and Danielle working on shirts, decal, photography and airbrushing, the couple are getting to show off their creative side on a daily basis. They also plan on hosting painting events for customers to put something to canvas.

“I’ve been interested in art my whole life,” KJ said. “I used to get in trouble for drawing on the other kids.”

Art was even a bonding experience for the couple as they would go to the park and sketch when they were dating.

The shop may have only been open since Sept. 1 but both offer years of experience in their trades.

“I’m doing what I’ve done from home for the past 7-10 years,” Danielle said.

Although KJ has been working in the oil and gas industry, he has also worked in tattoos off and on since 2008, starting with Twisted Ink in Alvarado.

He would do it often enough that he kept current on his health board license and certification and training, including many medical-based classes.

The Meadors say that Dublin has been very welcoming of their shop since they decided to open the downtown store.

KJ said that he drafted 44 tattoos in September and 44 in October. Considering he is offering $13 for (selected) tattoos tomorrow for Friday the 13th, he is poised to pass the 100 mark soon.

Danielle has also been busy with shirts and vinyl, creating all the new signage for the National Health and Public Safety Museum and making a lot of shirts.

“Homecoming was very busy,” Danielle said. “Every 11 minutes for 10 hours straight, I kicked out a shirt.”

Even though the store is technically closed on Sundays and Mondays, they reported that they had only had three days off since the shop opened.

They try to keep the customers coming back by offering quality art at affordable prices. Danielle says she opts for comfortable cotton/poly blend shirts so they’re comfortable and wear well. She only charges for the cost of materials and her time, saying that she doesn’t agree with hiking prices up on jackets if it’s the same amount of work as a shirt.

Both say that the best part of the job is coming through for their customers and creating a design that makes them happy in a timely manner.

Wicked Clover opens at 10 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday with Danielle working from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and KJ working from 2 p.m. to midnight.

The Wicked Clover is located at 111 S. Patrick. For more information, find The Wicked Clover on Facebook or call (325) 792- 9083.
