Saying Thanks on Thanksgiving

One of the best traditions for Thanksgiving (besides the awesome sides) is people sharing what they’re grateful for.

The world can be a divisive and negative place and the stress of life can sometimes cloud our vision to the good things, large or small, in our life.

With that in mind, the staff of the Citizen shares what we are grateful for this week.

Deborah McClatchy (our intrepid delivery driver): “I’m thankful for my beautiful family and friends and for God’s guidance and joy in my life ... I know it sounds cliche but thanks to these I can smile, laugh and experience the peace only God can give ...Life is good!”

Wyndi Veigel-Gaudette (Content Editor extraordinaire): I’m grateful to finally be married and be done with all the planning. I’m also grateful to be allowed to work in this community and see so much others might not get to see in reporting the news. I’m also grateful to the community for trusting us with their information and allowing us to share it with them every week.

Cindy Combs (Business Manager par-excellence): I am very grateful to have landed in this job 14 years ago and that I get to work with such wonderful, fun people, not just in my office but company-wide, from the top down.

Paul Gaudette (Managing Editor, the writer of this column): It’s hard not to cite my wedding last month as one of the things for which I’m most grateful.

During the reception, one of my longtime friends who lives out of the area said how happy he was to see the support we had in reference to the friends and family in attendance.

I am lucky to have the friends and family I’ve collected over the years, starting with supportive parents who provided a loving home and what I needed to grow as a child. This extends to our neighbors who trust us to share their stories.

Both Wyndi and I say regularly how much we appreciate the local community in supporting our work here at the paper and just as neighbors.

In my nearly 16 years at the Citizen, I’ve seen that Dublin is at its best when the community comes to support each other, whether that is responding to a family in need after a tragedy, fundraisers for local organizations or just supporting and recommending local businesses.

There are numerous toy drives going on around town and lot of awesome sales starting on Black Friday. I encourage all of our neighbors to support each other as we come into December so we can remember there’s a lot in life to be thankful for!
