A moo-ving experience

A lot of people stayed in bed extra late Monday recuperating from too much fun on New Year’s Eve, but Paul and I went to the first day of the Erath County Junior Livestock Show. More specifically, we froze at the Dairy show.

However, it’s hard to stay cold with so much excitement surrounding one. Watching a young competitor, at age 8, compete for the first time was the highlight for me.

Donning a Holstein print bow, the youngster battled with her first heifer. But the factthatthecowoutweighed her significantly didn’t stop her. She went on to show other additional animals, cow after cow, even earning ribbons as she went along.

Determination and professionalism as she watched the judge and spoke to him was visible to all.

I commented to Paul that I never feel like I live in Texas more than when I go to livestock shows and that’s especially true with the dairy show.

Good luck to everyone competing this week!
