As the days become shorter and the nights longer find some respite with a cozy corner and a good book. The Dublin Public Library has new selections and several new series available.

IN THE STACKS

“Labyrinth” By Kate Mosse

An outstanding thriller, the novel parallels the lives of two women, one in medieval France and the other in the same place in present time. Seventeenyear-old Alais is given a ring and book by her father in 1209 to keep safe. This contains information regarding the secret of the true Grail.

Alice Tanner is working a archeological dig in present day when she discovers a small leather bag containing the ring. She sets into motion a series of events tied to the heretics eight hundred years ago.

This is the first in a trilogy by Mosse. All the three were bestsellers and a miniseries from them was produced in 2013. It is interesting to compare the book and a series or movie with the written story.

“Open Carry” (Arliss Cutter #1) By Marc Cameron

From the creator of Jack Ryan, a new character is born. U.S. Marshal Arlis Cutter seems as though he should be related to Ryan. Military background, Middle East veteran, veteran of field marshal positions, the new series is set in the wastelands of Alaska.

On the trail of three missing people on Prince of Wales Island, a town full of secrets and an Indian girl who had the misfortune of witnessing their murders. As he looks for answers, he becomes the hunted.

“National Security” (Jericho Quinn #1)

By Marc Cameron

The human body used as a weapon? When three Middle Eastern terrorists, having been injected to act as human time bombs, are unleashed on American soil.

With the potential to spread disease and take out millions Special Agent Jericho Quinn, Air Force veteran, champion boxer, trained assassin is sent out to find them in time. Hand-picked for a new global task force that before now has not existed. The clock is ticking.

At 59, Cameron has had an amazing life and career himself. Before becoming a phenomenally successful writer, he spent 29 years in law enforcement before becoming a part of the U. S. Marshals Service.

He was born and grew up in Texas. In fact, he graduated from Weatherford High School.

The “thriller” is one of the most popular genres especially among local readers. All three of these certainly offer edge-ofthe-seat twists and turns.

In continuing to urge people to use the library, folks continue to say, “I just buy books.” With the economic times we are experiencing, take advantage of the FREE books and movies offered at the library.

With hardbacks going for about $25 a pop, it makes sense to use the library. They are completely sanitized. Let the Dublin Public Library add some enjoyment to these long winter nights.
