Dear Editor:
As many long time residents, I have dreams for Dublin.
I’ll limit myself to those that are realistic.
Of course, I want all local businesses to be successful and I’m very proud of how far Dublin has progressed in the past 20 years or so. Of course, there have been setbacks, but the future looks bright.
At the top of my list is construction of tennis courts at the secondary campus. I’m sure this will happen in the near future to help our very successful tennis team and compliment our sports complex. Of course, we need a new ag barn-something I’ve championed for years and almost saw it become a reality, but the bids came in too high. And that is in addition to more hangars at our airport.
As President of the library board, I’ve been scheming to build a children’s wing to double the size of the library. This is something that is desperately needed as I consider our library a shining star attraction for Dublin.
Our museums are great but I’ve been hoping the depot could be made into a railroad museum as has been talked about for years considering our great railroad history.
Another dream that almost became a reality was development of Resley Creek much as has been done with waterways in Burnet and on a much larger scale in San Angelo. We had a state grant to do part of that almost 20 years ago but ........... well I won’t discuss that any further.
I have dreams that the theatre where I once worked could be reopened and that we could use all the empty buildings to become a discount shopping center on a small scale of San Marcos. Some of that seems like pipe dreams but there is hope.
