Dear Editor,

Today over 7,000,000 Americans have been infected with the virus causing covid-19. That number could potentially double by the end of the year. But the important ongoing impact of that number is the fact that we are just beginning to discover that covid-19 can contribute to having other diseases or potential ogan failures in the future. Shortly after the November election, the Supreme Court will hear arguments proposing the elimination of the Affordable Care Act. That action means insurance companies could once again claim a preexisting condition can negate your coverage for or charge more for any coverage potentially impacted by any of your pre-existing conditions including Covid-19. The bottom line is that younger people may not have been at a high risk of dying from Covid-19 but you may be paying for having contracted it for the rest of your life in higher insurance premiums or the elimination of coverage. Much more than the simple effects of the common flu, everyone may suffer much greater impacts from Covid-19 if the Affordable Care Act is eliminated and pre-existing conditions are allowed once again to be used by insurance companies to deny or charge much higher premiums for your coverage.
