As someone whose the daughter of a florist, this is your friendly reminder that Valentine’s Day is only a weekaway-nextWednesday, Feb. 14 for those who may not be aware.

I’m not a huge lover of the day covered in red and pink hearts (not a pink fan) but I do have to say I’m a fan of love.

Lately, I’ve been wondering if the Greeks had it right. They have seven different words for love: Eros: romantic, passionate love; Philia: intimate, authentic friendship; Erotoropia or ludus: playful, flirtatious love; Storge: unconditional, familial love; Philautia: compassionate self-love; Pragma: committed, companionate love and Agápe: empathetic, universal love.

English is slightly more boring with only the quintessential ‘I love you.’ Lately, in Paul and I’s life our family and friends have definitely embraced at least three of the different loves, as we continue to try to deal with loved ones in the hospital and just overall health issues (go away flu and COVID) in the community.

As two romantic individuals, Paul and I try to show each other every day that we eros each other (it just sounds weird), but when you feel like you’re drowning, the love has a tendency to fall by the way side.

However, we’ve tried to make it a point to make time for each other and even snuck in a romantic comedy the other night. We highly recommend ‘Always Be My Maybe’ on Netflix.

I also highly recommend finding a best friend and loved one who embraces your love language and makes you coffee every morning. Thanks sweetheart andIEros, Philia, Erotoropia, Storge, Philautis, Pragma and Agape you!
