The colors... the horror!

If you ever looked at largescale Easter Egg hunts like the one we featured last week and asked ‘What kind of fool stuffs 13,000 eggs?’... the answer is Wyndi, Shanna from DQ and me since we spearheaded the event for the second year.

I managed to show Wyndi a couple of the “Rocky” movies as we parsed through the eggs and put them together to make it somewhat bearable, but none of us wanted to look at Easter Eggs ever again... till next year, anyway.

The fields were picked clean in less than five minutes, of course, but the smile on kids’ faces made it all worth it.

The event wouldn’t have been possible if not for the generous sponsors, and most of all, we are grateful to the Stephenville Area Elks Lodge who signed on as volunteers and to be lead sponsor.

The organization has committed to Dublin in recent years, helping fund the monthly Community Table at First Methodist Church, a free meal available to anyone on the last Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

They also lead bingo nights at Grafton Events Center with proceeds going back into the community. Bingo is held the second Saturday of every month at 6 p.m.

Their next project is the Drug Awareness Program Bike Show on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Celebration Park next to Dublin Bottling Works.

The event will include both a bike show and a clue run, which will cost $20 each for cyclists.

The clue run will allow bikers to travel to various places in Erath County and the surrounding area to hunt for clues.

For those interested in preregistering in either the show or the ride, you can either email elksdap2834@gmail.com or text 405-496-2304.

Although Stephenville is in their name, I’m appreciative to the group for committing to help fill the needs of Dublin. It takes a community to take care of a community and neighbor like the Elks make it possible.
