Do you ever feel cold at church? I don’t think men complain much but ladies sure do. Agreed, it’s hard to please everybody. Actually, it’s impossible. Pity the person who sets and controls the sanctuary thermostat. He (or she) tries to keep everyone comfortable; at the same time, they want to be wise stewards of their church’s money for energy bills.
Now you know why women wear sweaters or jackets and cover up with lap quilts. Many of us are cold-natured.
Do visitors ever receive the cold shoulder in our churches? I suspect that some may. All guests should be welcomed warmly with hellos and handshakes. Three cheers for faithful church greeters who meet any visitors at the church door. Everyone will keep warm when our thermostats are set on love.
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you (John 15:12 KJV).”
“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself (Galatians 5:14 KJV).”
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35 KJV).”
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (1 John 4:7-8 KJV).”
In conclusion: “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another (1 Peter 3:8a KJV).”
