Help give Bottles for the Brave

The Dublin Citizen, with the generous support of other local businesses, is gathering “Bottles for the Brave,” a drive to collect bottled water for 12 area fire departments that work hard to keep us all safe.
Dry conditions and increased fire and mutual aid calls have severely taxed the resources of our area fire departments. Fast moving fires, intense heat and the weight of protection gear make it imperative that our first responders stay hydrated.

The drive will commence today.

Departments in the drive area include Cross Timbers Emergency Response Team, Dublin Fire Department, Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue, Harbin Volunteer Fire Department, Lingleville Volunteer Fire Department, Huckabay Volunteer Fire Department, Stephenville Fire Department, Comanche Volunteer Fire Department, DeLeon Volunteer Fire Department, Gustine Volunteer Fire Department, Proctor Volunteer Fire Department, Promontory Park Volunteer Fire Department and more. List is not complete and holding sites have said they will coordinate with neighboring departments.

Multiple area businesses have volunteered to kick off the drive with generous donations of pallets of bottled water. They include Brookshire Brothers in Dublin, Walmart in Stephenville, H-E-B  in Stephenville, Shoppin’ Basket in DeLeon, Brookshire’s in Comanche and Gifford Appliance.

In addition to their generous donation, these merchants have agreed to bottled water readily available for purchase to donate to the drive. Several merchants have also agreed to help deliver the donations including Bradberry’s Best, Mattressville, Clark Tractor, Bayer Motor and Gifford Appliance.

The Citizen thanks all of the merchants for their assistance and invites others to join in keeping our firefighters safe.

Water drop off sites include The Dublin Citizen office at 938 N. Patrick, Comanche Chamber of Commerce, Stephenville Fire Station at Pecan Hill and DeLeon City Hall.
