Girls have strong summer

Dublin’s volleyball girls went 14-5-2 in the spring and summer league year.

“They played some really good teams and competed against them all,” coach Ryan Lewis said.

She added that the team defeated Brownwood and played well against Abilene Wylie.

They also put down district opponents Eastland, Comanche, Bangs and Early.

The team’s success especially impressed her because they dealt with so many injuries; as many as four of the 11 girls were injured at one point.

“They have really showed how much depth with will have going into the season,” Lewis said.

Camry Porter and Yakelin Morantes played libero. Kaylee Smith, Lessly Robles and Addison Stout were the outside hitters. Bailey Noel and Maeleigh Geijsel played at middle hitter. Kylie Curtoys and Jordyn Ricks were the setters. Brooklynn Johnson and Isabel Bustamante were defensive specialists and played on the right side.
