City hires interim EMS head, talks pool

The Dublin City Council appointed an interim EMS director and approved amended hours for the City pool during its regular meeting Monday night.

Following an executive session, council members voted to hire Erik Burleson (pictured) as interim EMS director with a salary of $35,000. Layne Golden and Darrell Curry voted against and John Johnson was absent. Burleson is a Dublin resident with a nearly 30-year career in fire and rescue who has also been employed with AirEvac.

Council members also unanimously voted on revisions to the city fee ordinance in preparation for summer, approving the removal of rental of the currently out-of-commission park building and amending the City pool hours from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. City Manager Nancy Wooldridge reported the city is aiming for a soft opening of the pool Saturday and a special grand opening on Monday for Memorial Day. This opening will depend on lifeguards getting all their training done before then. Entry and rental fees will be the same as last year.
