LHS sending four to state track meet

Lingleville is sending the Lady Cardinal track relay team to state competition after the quartet shattered a school record in the 400-meter relay and earned the third best time in the state in the 200-meter relay.

These milestones were achieved in Regional competition Friday and Saturday at Whitney.

The team of Selina Alvarado, Ilse DeBoer, Nicole Koke and Samantha Rodriguez earned bronze in the 200-meter relay with 1:49.42 and silver in the 200-meter with 4:13.03.

The qualifying Lady Cardinals will be travelling to The University of Texas on May 12 for State play.

DeBoer also placed fourth in the 800-meter dash with 2:33.02. Alvarado also qualified to compete in that event in Regionals.

The Lingleville 100-meter team of Rodrigquz, Jasmine Galvan, Anna Koke and Nicole Koke also qualified to compete at Regionals.

LHS also sent four boys to Regional competition.

Luke Whitely earned bronze with a 5.83 finish in the 400-meter. He also placed sixth in the 800-meter with 2:08.99 and 12th in the 1600-meter with 5:26.72.

Joel Martinez-Miralles placed eighth in the 800-meter with 2:11.28.

Carlos Moreno placed ninth in both the 1600-meter (5:13.27) and the 3200-meter (11:24.02).

Devon Corpus placed ninth in the 200-meter prelims with 24.55 and had also qualified to compete in the 100-meter
