Volunteer deadline April 12

Volunteers are sought for a huge effort to clean our Dublin home on April 28. Dublin Clean is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will expand on the usual trash-off efforts by allowing anyone with a Dublin address to bring in old appliances and tires, as well as the usually accepted household trash and debris.

With grants providing for the removal of 800 tires and five tons of appliances, city crews are seeking assistance to ensure that Dublin Clean is a success. Code Enforcement Officer Jeremy Essary has expressed a need for volunteers, vehicles and trailers to haul the junked items to the public works yard at 602 N. Norton.

Those who sign up to help by tomorrow (April 12) will be given a free shirt in addition to being treated with the free lunch available to all volunteers.

Shirts will be dispersed when volunteers meet in the City Park at 7 a.m. that morning. The free lunch lunch will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Keep Dublin Beautiful moved the annual trash-off day to coincide with the event so volunteers will also be picking up on the highways around town.
