Pageant season returns

With the annual Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Celebration less than two months away, planning is beginning for the Miss Dublin pageants.

These contests are open to students in Dublin schools or who are a Dublin resident. 

The first meeting is set for Sunday at the old Dublin Middle School auditorium for registration, orientation and rehearsal.

Contestants in Kindergarten and first grade will meet at 1:30 p.m. for the Little Miss Dublin pageant registration. Contestants in fourth, fifth and sixth grades will meet at 2:30 p.m. for the Jr. Miss Dublin pageant registration. The Miss Dublin registration for girls in ninth through 12th grades will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets will be handed out during the first meeting and contestants can begin selling tickets as soon as all registration forms are signed and returned.

Pageant rehearsals will also be held on Feb. 4, 11, and 18 with Little Miss contestants meeting at 1:30 p.m., Jr. Miss at 2:30 p.m. and Miss Dublin at 3:30 p.m.

Feb. 25 will bring functions for those vying for the crowns to attend. The Little Miss Dublin Contestant soda shop party will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Dublin Bottling Works soda shop. The Jr. Miss and Miss Dublin contestants will meet with the judges for their interview tea and casual wear judging from 2 to 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church  (630 Highland Ave.).

The final rehearsal at the Dublin Middle School auditorium will be March 4 with Little Miss meeting from 2 to 3 p.m. and Jr. Miss and Miss Dublin meeting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. All ticket money and tickets are due during the final rehearsal.

The Little Miss Pageant will follow on March 8 at 7 p.m. (Contestants are requested at the band hall by 6:15 p.m.)

The Jr. Miss and Miss Dublin Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. the following night. (Contestants are once again requested at the band hall by 6:15 p.m.)

Winners and most tickets sales will be announced during the pageant.

Miss Dublin and her court will make their first public appearance in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 10 a.m. on March 17, when they will ride on the Chamber of Commerce pageant float.
