Lions in state lineman challenge

The Dublin Lions will be competing in the State Lineman Challenge, hosted by Hardin-Simmons University, on Saturday at 9 a.m. The offensive- and defensive lineman-type athletes will be competing in a strong man-style competition with eight events, such as tire flip, sled push and obstacle course.

Teams will earn points to take the team championship. There will also be a tug-of-war that teams compete in for points.

At the qualifying event, also hosted at Hardin-Simmons, the Lions placed fifth overall, had the fastest time in the sled push and the second fastest time in the tire flip and power drive. Ethan Price has the most bench press reps for an individual in the whole qualifying event, benching 185 pounds 31 times. Hardin-Simmons has hosted four qualifying events around the state, including Abilene, DFW, Houston and Austin.

The team consists of coach Jason Clark (left to right), Bryen Healey, Isaiah Cisneroz, Tyler Morrow, Jared Ricks, Bricen Ballenger, Pablo Pantoja, Ethan Price and (not pictured) Johnny Jurado and Stran Burrow.
