Dolly Rhodes

Dolly Lou Rhodes, 86, of Ranger and formerly of Comanche County, passed away peacefully in the home of her granddaughter and caregiver, Breanne Perez, on May 9, 2017. She was born July 31, 1930, in Desdemona to Walter and Pearl Elliott Shupp. Dolly married Cecil Rhodes.

Dolly moved to Ranger after residing in Proctor for more than 25 years. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Sears for many years. She was a member of Double N Cowboy Church in Dublin and loved the Lord.  

Dolly enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting, dancing and traveling. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend. Her family and many friends will miss her beyond measure.

She is survived by her son, Cody Rhodes and wife, Gail; grandchildren, Gina McWhirter, Elaina Atkins, Rexanne Crowley, Branden Rucker, Brittney Gilliam and Breanne Perez; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Audeen Hughes; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.  

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Rhodes; son, Rex Rhodes; daughter, Jan Rhodes; parents, Walter and Pearl Shupp; two brothers; four sisters; and family friend, Wayne Parish.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home, DeLeon. Graveside services followed in Downing Cemetery.
