Bond voted down, council members picked

The proposed Dublin ISD bond was voted down for the third time and City Council members were picked in the Dublin and Stephenville elections Saturday.

Of the 632 Dubliners who voted in the school bond election, 406 (64.56%) voted against while 224 (35.44%) opted for the bond.

Incumbent John Johnson was chosen for Dublin City Council Ward 1 with 88 (64.23%) of the 137 Ward 1 voted. Rosemary Enhorabuena received 33 (24.09%), and Gary Grose received 16 votes (11.68%).

Lee Jones won Ward 2 with 66 (71.74%) of the 92 ballots cast while Marilyn Lovelace got 26 (28.26%).

Ward 3 was decided by one vote as Tommy Sperry got 13 (39.39%) of the 33 ballots cast compared to incumbent Sarah McCann’s 12 (36.36%). Roxana Lopez also got 5 votes and Shawn Nichols got 3.

In Stephenville city elections, Mark McClinton took Place 1 with 454 votes (51.71% ) over Nick Robinson’s 424 (48.29%).

Doug Svien won Place 3 with 516 votes (58.37%) over Mandy McGee’s 368 (41.63%).

Rhett Harrison took Place 5 with 581 votes (66.86%) to Walter G. Wood’s 288 (33.14%)

Sherry Zachery won Place 7 with 474 votes (53.32%) to David D. Baskett’s 415 (46.68%).
