Voter registration deadline Thursday

The deadline to register to vote in the May 4 local election, which includes the mayoral and city council race in Dublin, is today Thursday, April 4.

Texas law requires eligible voters to register by the 30th day before Election Day.

To confirm your voter registration status, you can visit the Texas Secretary of State’s Am I Registered portal, which allows you to look up your voter registration record in the statewide voter registration database.

For those wanting to register to vote for the first time, they can complete an application using the Secretary of State’s Online Voter Registration Application at https://www. votetexas.gov.

Applicants will simply fill in the required information, print, sign and mail the completed application directly to your county election office.

You can also contact or visit your voter registrar to complete the voting process.

It is important to note the Erath County Voter Registration office has moved to the County Annex II, located at 222 E. College Street and that is also where the main voting location will be held.

Dublin’s May 4 election will include the mayoral race between incumbent mayor David Leatherwood and challenger John Staud, Place 2 City Council incumbent candidate Orion Gallagher and Nancy Williams and Place 4 city councilmember between Jacob McCullough and Tyson Lueck.

As far as voting is concerned for the May 4 election, early voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 22 through Thursday, April 25; extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 26 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30.

Early voting locations include Patrick Street Church of Christ in Dublin (630 N. Patrick Street) and the new County Annex.

Election Day locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4 and include the Erath County Annex, the Patrick St. Church of Christ, Texas Bank in Stephenville (988 Wolfe Nursery Road), Bluff Dale Community Center (175 Holt in Bluff Dale), Morgan Mill Community Center (406 CR 156 in Stephenville) and Huckabay ISD Cafeteria (200 County Road 421 in Stephenville). Due to the county utilizing vote centers, registered voters can cast their vote at any location on Election Day.

Along with Dublin’s Mayoral race and city council races, city of Stephenville, Stephenville ISD, Bluff Dale ISD, Morgan Mill ISD, Huckabay ISD and Three Way ISD have ballots for May 4. See pages B4-B7 for information about Huckabay ISD’s bond election.

Dublin ISD’s race has been canceled due to only the incumbents filing for the offices.

Another election will occur Tuesday, May 28 when a Republican Primary Election Runoff will occur for the office of Tax Assessor-Collector between candidates Niki McInroe-Cogburn and Valerie Stephens and County Commissioner Precinct 3 candidates Sherman Edwards and Ben Clements.

Early voting for runoff races will only be conducted in Stephenville at the new Erath County Annex from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24.

On Election Day, Tuesday May 28, voters can cast their ballots at the following locations: Erath County Annex II, Patrick Street Church of Christ, Texas A&M Agrilife Research and Extension Center (1229 N. U.S. Hwy. 281) and Texas Bank on Wolfe Nursery Road.
