Runoffs set for May 28

After unofficial results for the March 5 joint primary election, there will be two runoff elections May 28 for those who voted in the Republican primary.

For the office of Tax Assessor-Collector candidate Valerie Stephen will face off against candidate Niki McInroe-Cogburn.

Unofficial totals for the race are: Valerie Stephen – 1,956 (36.11%) Niki McInroe-Cogburn 1,426 (26.32%) Mike Jones – 1,242 (22.93%) Tina Holzschuh – 793 (14.64%) Any time at least one candidate does not receive 50% of the vote, plus one, a runoff must occur between the two highest vote earners.

On the Democratic ballot, candidate Marycruz Serrano will move ahead to the November election. She received 341 votes.

For the office of Precinct 3 County Commissioner, candidate Sherman L. Edwards will face off against candidate Ben Clements.

Unofficial totals for the race are: Sherman Edwards – 799 (47.56%) Ben Clements – 458 (27.26%) Justin Slawson – 423 (25.18%) For the office of Precinct 1 County commissioner, unopposed candidate Dee Stephens was reelected for another term with 1,282 votes or 100%.

For 266th Judicial District, District Attorney unopposed candidate Alan Nash was reelected with 5,049 votes, or 100%.

For County Attorney, unopposed candidate Bethany Espinoza was elected to the position with 4,640 votes.

For County Sheriff, unopposed candidate Matt Coates was reelected to the position with 5,073 votes.

For Precinct 1, 3 and 5 unopposed Constable Jason Schipper was reelected with 3,716 votes. For Precinct 2, unopposed Constable Ryan Gibson was reelected with 1,034 votes. Moumin Quazi was reelected as Erath County Democratic Chair with 339 votes and Dave Washam was reelected with 4,609 votes.

For U.S. Representative Texas District 25, longtime incumbent Roger Williams kept his seat.

Unofficial total votes are: Roger Williams - 66,409 (77.64%) Matthew Lucci -11,910 (13.92%) Vince Crabb - 7,213 (8.43%) Erath County voters followed that trend, with Congressman Williams receiving 80.25% of the vote.

Statewide, former Republican President Donald Trump received the most votes with 1,742,230 votes or 77.25 on the Republican Primary ballot. Erath County Republican voters followed that trend, with Trump receiving 83.68% of the vote.

Statewide, President Joe Biden received the most votes out of all candidates on the Democratic ballot with 824,378 or 84.59%. In Erath County, Democratic voters followed that trend, with President Biden receiving 87.28% of the vote.

For U.S. Senator, Ted Cruz received the most votes statewide with 1,973,253 or 88.31% on the Republican ballot. Erath county Republican voters followed that trend, and he received 92.11% of the vote.

For U.S. Senator on the Democratic ballot, Colin Allred won with 565,767 votes or 58.84%. Erath County Democrats followed that trend with 73.59% of votes cast.

Statewide, for Railroad Commissioner, Republican incumbent Christi Craddick received the most votes 980,457 or 50.42%. James “Jim” Matlock received 516,511 or 26.56%. Erath County voters followed that trend with Craddick receiving 49.45% of the votes and Matlock receiving 23.60%.

For Railroad Commissioner on the Democratic ticket, Katherine Culbert received 612,775 votes or6 7 . 6 7 % . Erath County Democrat voters followed that trend and Culbert receiving 69.01% of the vote.

Statewide, for Supreme Court Place 2, unopposed Republican candidate Jimmy Blacklock received 1,746,039 Statewide, on the Democratic ticket, Dasean Jones received 526,906 votes or 59.59%, against Randy Sarosdy, who received 357,249 or 40.41%. Democrat Erath County voters followed the state trend, casting 51.88% of their votes for Jones.

Statewide, for Supreme Court Place 4, on the Republican ticket, incumbent John Devine received 919,832 or 50.44% against challenger Brian Walker, who received 903,649 or 49.56%. Erath County voters followed the state trend, and Devine received 53.25% of the vote.

Statewide, on the DemocraticticketforSupreme Court Place 4, unopposed candidate Christine Vinh Weems received 821,963 or 100% of the vote.

Statewide, for Supreme Court Place 6, on the Republican ticket, unopposed candidate Jane Bland received 1,687,099 votes, or 100%.

Statewide, on the DemocraticticketforSupreme Court Place 6, Bonnie Lee Goldstein received the most voteswith643,181 o r 73.15%. Erath County Democrat voters followed the state trend casting 68% of their votes for Goldstein.

Statewide,ontheRepublican ballot for presiding judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, David J. Schenck received 1,173,399 or 62.66%. Erath County voters followed the state trend casting 67% of their votes for Schenck.

On the Democratic ballot for presiding judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, unopposed candidate Holly Taylor received 824,912or 100%.

Statewide,ontheRepublican ballot for judge, Court of Criminal Appeals Place 7, Gina Parker received 1,208,604 or 66.08% against incumbent candidate Barbara Parker Hervey, who received 620,337 or 33.92%. Erath County voters followed this trend, casting 76% of their votes for Parker.

On the Democratic ballot for judge, Court of Criminal Appeals Place 7, unopposed candidate Nancy Mulder received 806,519 votes, or 100%.

Statewide,ontheRepublican ballot for judge, Court of Criminal Appeals Place 8, Lee Finley received 986,927 or 53.88% against incumbent candidate Michelle Slaughter, who received 844,931, or 46.12%. Erath County Republican voters cast the most votes to Slaughter, who received 54.87% of votes in the county.

On the Democratic ballot for judge, Court of Criminal Appeals Place 8, unopposed candidate Chika Anyiam received 800,487 votes, or 100%.

For Republican State Representative, District 59 voters cast 22,891 votes for unopposed incumbent Shelby Slawson.

For State Representative, District 59, on the Democratic ballot, unopposed candidate Hannah Bohm received 2,205 votes. For Republican Chief Justice, 11th Court of Appeals District, incumbent candidate John Bailey received 72,994 votes, or 100%.
