Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday will offer Dubliners the opportunity to shop local and purchase Christmas presents.

This year’s Small Business Saturday is Nov. 25. Founded by American Express in 2010 and officially cosponsored by the Small Business Association since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season. Historically, reported projected spending among U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday reached an estimated $17.9 billion according to the 2022 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey commissioned by American Express.

“Buying locally is a conscious decision that we make in an effort to support our neighbors. When we buy local we are supporting not just that business owner, but all of the endeavors that business owner supports within the community. Their donations to local community events, band booster, little league teams, inc. These businesses are putting your money back into the community that you live in,” Dublin Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Penny Corona said about the importance of shopping local.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is also encouraging citizens to shop local by hosting its own Shop Local raffle.

For every purchase that is made in the 76446 zipcode between $20 and $50, participants will have a chance to win $50 in the raffle. For each purchase between $50 and $75, you can win $75 and for those who spend more than $75, they can win $100. There will be two $50 prizes, one $75 prize and one $100 prize.

Purchases must be made Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 and participants can only enter once per store. The chamber will be posting a list of sales on its Facebook page on Friday to help citizens find the best deals. Those entering can send proof of their purchases via email to marketing@dublintxchamber.com or drop it off at the chamber next week between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
