Saturday packs park, town with fun

Saturday, April 6 will be full of fun and festivities as the Solar Shamrock Festival takes place along with the opening day for Dublin Baseball and Softball Association at City Park.

The festival is set as both a St. Patrick’s Day redux, and fun for the community and visitors in town prior to Monday’s total solar eclipse. It is hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

The day will kick off with DBSA league photos from 8-9 a.m.

Opening day ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. at City Park with a player parade, opening prayer, announcing of teams and sponsors, president address, meeting the DSBA board, a special speaker, the National Anthem and the first pitch.

League pictures will resume at 10 a.m. and the first game will begin at 11 a.m.

Games will continue from 11 a.m. to 7:35 p.m. throughout the day.

“I would like to see our community come together for opening day and bring some life to the program. This has been a big growth year for us and it’s just the beginning. I think when people come out they will the heart of what we’re doing in DBSA,” Board President Tyler Stone said.

As part of the St. Patrick’s Day redux, there will be Solar Shamrock Festival Vendors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park and the Dublin Municipal Airport Fly-in will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dublin Municipal Airport.

At 11 a.m., there will be programs at the Dublin Public Library including a painting class hosted by Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council and Barks & Books with Annie’s Therapeutic Companions.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum will serve up hamburgers, hot dogs and more as part of a fundraiser to benefit the museum. The museum is located at 118 W. Blackjack Street.

At 11:30 a.m., a cornhole tournament will begin at the park.

A Scavenger Hunt throughout town will commence at 12:30 p.m. and is being hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

Those interested in rodeo events may want to make their way over to the Dublin Rodeo Arena at 4 p.m. for barrel racing hosted by Lilly G Arena Productions.

From 8-11 p.m. Tell Runyan will be performing live at Red Barrel and there will be karaoke at Backwoods starting at 8:30 p.m.
