A workday is set for this Saturday for Revitalize Dublin’s first clean up of 2024 and the community group is celebrating officially becoming a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

This Saturday’s event will take place starting at 8:30 a.m. and last until noon at 546 S. Camden.

“We are coming together as a community to help our neighbor in need,” organizers said.

“Ms. Teri is a widow who is in need of help with some yard work. This job will consist of moving a lot of limbs and logs that have fallen into her backyard. We will also mow and weed-eat around the house to give it a make-over for spring. I’m sure that Ms. Teri would take some pots of flowers for her yard if anyone wants to donate a few.”

The group is working with the city to secure a wood chipper for lots of mulch, so if you are in need of mulch, you should definitely come out and bring something to haul your mulch home in.

Tools needed for this job are: lawnmowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws, trailers, rakes, leaf blowers, gloves and long pants. Several members of the Dublin, Texas Lions Club and some of the candidates for Dublin City Council will be in attendance.

“We’ve invited several other organizations within the community and also we are hoping that Dublin can work together towards progression to get more accomplished in 2024,” organizer Lori Beggs said.

“Please consider joining us at 8:30 on April 13th for this volunteer opportunity. Please reach out if you have questions OR if you know of a neighbor in need. We are here to unite the community and make it a better place for all of us,” Revitalize Dublin organizers said.

Anyone is invited to help with the project and can just show up at the project site.

As far as the nonprofit goes, achieving official nonprofit status will allow the community improvement group to achieve more since they will be eligible for more funds.

“We are super excited that Revitalize Dublin has been recognized as a public 501c3 charity,” Beggs said. “Now that we are an official charity, we have the options on how to fundraiser that will help us better the community. In addition, having nonprofit status gives Revitalize Dublin the ability to receive grants as source of income to help our citizens in need. These are funds that do not have to be paid back, the money will go towards improvements that are needed in Dublin.”

“Revitalize Dublin is committed to the beatification, community development, and economic growth of Dublin. We want to assist the folks who need help the most, the elderly widow who is unable to paint her own home or mow the yard. The nonprofit status is a step in the right direction to obtain funds, but none of this would be possible without the volunteers in our community. Without the hard work of our community members, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish any of the work we do. We love our volunteers!”

Donations made to Revitalize Dublin will also now be tax deductible. Each person and/or business will receive an official receipt from Revitalize Dublin to use on their tax return for the year of donation.

The nonprofit will host its first fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Backwoods. (Doors open at 3 p.m.)

One Headlight, a rock cover band will be performing 90s tunes and everyone is invited to rock the night away, organizers said.

Backwoods will also be serving up a tasty menu, and the event will include a silent auction and a Mr. Legs contest to help raise funds for the new nonprofit.
