Cross Timber Land Management Symposium

Currently our soil moisture is good, and the grass is green, but unfortunately, this good spell is not predicted to last long into the summer. Most areas have received some rainfall, but we are still well behind where we need to be and moving closer to the heat of summer every day.

Many factors are out of our hands but there are some management decisions that can help you to at least slow the bleeding. We will be having an excellent program to provide you with some tools and ideas to make those decisions.

The Cross Timbers Land Management Symposium will be held Tuesday April 30th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station in Stephenville.

We once again have a good line-up of speakers coming to present. We will have Justin Hale from Ignition Land Services coming to talk about Brush and Weed Management, Mikayla Killam from the department of Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service coming to give us the latest updates on the feral hog toxicant, Kaput, and Pancho Abello Agriculture Economist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension providing an update on the livestock market and what we might expect from the market for the next couple of years.

There will be 2 CEU’s, 1 IPM and 1 L&R available for pesticide license holders. There will be a $20 charge and lunch will be provided. We are asking that you pre-register by April 23rd. If you have questions and/or wish to pre-register, call the office at 325-356-2539.

Agricultural Pesticide Waste Collection Event I wanted to be sure and get this out one more time as we rarely get this opportunity so close to home.

The Texas Department of Agriculture will be offering an “Agricultural Pesticide Waste Collection Event” at the Cowboy Capital Fairgrounds at 9461 US HWY 67, Stephenville, TX on Tuesday, April 30th from 8 a.m. until Noon. It has been a very long time since there has been a pesticide collection event near us so if you have inherited unlabeled or other unwanted agricultural pesticides this is the opportunity to get rid of them. There is no charge, and you can dispose of them anonymously. For more information, please call TDA at: 214-631-0265.
